On behalf of the program committee and Board of Directors, I would like to welcome everybody to the 2024 Annual Conference of the Virginia College of Emergency Physicians at the beautiful, historic Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Virginia. The Homestead is a National Historic Landmark that has been welcoming guests since 1766. With a guest list that includes John D. Rockefeller, Henry Ford, J.P. Morgan, and 21 of our country’s 46 Presidents, The Homestead has long been a favorite destination of various world figures and will surely make a great backdrop for our annual conference.
The focus of the meeting will include various areas of interest applicable to Emergency Physicians across the Commonwealth of Virginia, in a beautiful setting perfect for individuals and families alike. A concerted effort was made to create a comprehensive program that covers different topics spanning both the practice and business of Emergency Medicine.
Attendees will have the pleasure of hearing from our keynote speaker, Dr. Aisha Terry. Dr. Terry is the current President of ACEP, and will update our membership on the state of Emergency Medicine and how the College is not only adapting but leading the protecting of our members. Other speakers include ACEP Board Member Dr. Ryan Stanton, Dr. Kevin Knoop, founder and Editor-in-Chief of the Atlas of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Jason Adler, Vice President of Acute Care Solutions for LogixHealth, and nationally recognized burn management expert Dr. Prabhu Senthil-Kumar. There will also be hands on workshops for Advanced Airway Management and Regional Nerve Blocks that will change your practice in the ED. Chairman of the ACEP Board of Directors, Dr. Jeff Goodloe, will also be in attendance.
In addition to an amazing conference schedule, there will be receptions both Friday and Saturday nights and a sure to be sold out Virginia ACEP Political Action Committee event, also on Saturday night! Make your hotel reservations through the VACEP link to free daily ski lift tickets for all attendees and their families staying at the resort among the many other fun activities at The Homestead.
We thank all the participants and sponsors in advance for their effort and support of this year's meeting. It is always our goal to bring state of the art education to the Virginia Emergency Medicine community. Looking forward to a great meeting.
With Regards,
Todd Parker, MD, FACEP
VACEP President
